Your Google Business Profile isn't appearing in Maps or search results, and you don't know why. The good news: it's almost always one of 8 specific issues. Here's the diagnostic process to identify yours and fix it within 24-48 hours.
8 reasons your GBP isn't showing up
- Profile is unverified. Profiles in pending verification do not appear in search. Check at business.google.com.
- Profile is suspended (silently). Sometimes happens without notification. Check the dashboard for 'Suspended' status.
- Wrong primary category. If your category doesn't match the queries you're searching, you'll never appear. Re-evaluate against top-3 ranked competitors.
- Address mismatch. If your address doesn't match Google's data (county records, USPS, mapping data), the profile may be filtered.
- Outside ranking radius. Map Pack rankings are partially proximity-based. Searching from outside your effective radius shows nothing.
- Recent edits triggered review. Rapid edits cause Google to temporarily hide the profile while re-reviewing.
- Brand new profile still indexing. New profiles take 5-14 days to appear consistently. Patience.
- Soft penalty from policy edge case. Certain phrases or attribute combinations trigger soft penalties without notification.
How to fix it
Run through the list above in order. Most cases are #1-4. If verified and not suspended, try searching from inside your service area on a different device. If still invisible, the issue is category or recent edits.
For unverified: complete verification immediately. For suspended: file reinstatement. For wrong category: re-research against top competitors. For address mismatch: edit to match official records.
If you've tried all of the above and still invisible, it's a soft penalty or edge case. Our fix service includes a free 24-hour diagnostic.
How to prevent this
Verify your profile fully before promoting it. Don't make rapid sequential edits. Use a real address (not virtual). Pick the most specific primary category. Avoid keyword stuffing in business name.
