The single biggest leverage in review acquisition is making the ask easy. A direct review link , one tap and the customer is on your review form , converts 5-10× higher than telling people to 'leave a Google review'. Here's how to generate yours.
3 ways to get your direct review link
- From business.google.com. Sign in , click your profile , 'Get more reviews' , copy the share link. This is the official method, always works.
- Place ID Lookup tool. Use Google's Place ID Finder, search your business, copy the Place ID. Construct the link:
https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID - From your business profile in search. Search your business name, click 'Write a review' on the knowledge panel , copy the resulting URL.
How to use the link
SMS template: 'Hi [name], thanks for choosing [business] today! Could you take 30 seconds to share your experience? [link]' Email template: longer follow-up with more context. QR codes: print on receipts and table tents. The link should always be the direct review form, not your profile or website.
Don't make these mistakes
Don't shorten the link with sketchy URL shorteners (some get blocked). Don't ask only happy customers to use the link (gating violation). Don't pre-fill star ratings (policy violation).
