The suspension is over and the profile is live again, but the reviews that took years to earn are gone. GMB Experts USA recovers reviews lost after a Google Business Profile reinstatement for US businesses: we document what vanished, find where it went, and run the support case until the reviews return.

Google reviews often go missing after a Business Profile is reinstated, and Google's own guidance is to contact support. GMB Experts USA documents the lost reviews with before-and-after evidence, checks whether a merged or duplicate profile is holding them, files and escalates the support case, and tracks the reviews until they reappear. Free diagnosis by email.
Why this happens1. Re-sync lag. Google acknowledges that reviews are sometimes removed after a reinstatement and tells owners to contact support. Left alone, the case never opens.
2. The reviews sit on another listing. During the suspension a duplicate was created or Google merged profiles. Google says merged reviews can take a few days to display, and some never move without a support case.
3. Reviews were re-checked during the suspension. Every review is screened against policy. Reviews Google judges to violate policy are removed permanently and will not be restored, whatever the appeal says.
4. A review restriction is still on the profile. Since Google's 2026 review-policy update, a profile caught soliciting can have new reviews paused and existing ones unpublished. That is a separate appeal from the suspension.
5. The reinstated profile is not the original. A new profile created during the suspension has no review history at all; the reviews are on the old one.
First step: Screenshot the current review count and any old snapshot
Triage: Same business day for REVIEWS emails
Cost: Request a quote after free diagnosis
Often paired with: Duplicate listing removal or sandbox recovery
Goal: Legitimate reviews restored and counted again
Hour 0-24: Free diagnosis. Send the reinstatement confirmation, the review count before and after, the Maps URL and any screenshots, insights exports or third-party snapshots. We tell you which of the five causes fits.
Day 1: Find where the reviews went. We search Maps for duplicate or merged listings under your name, phone and old address, and check whether the profile carries a review restriction rather than a sync problem.
Day 1-2: Build the evidence pack and open the case. Reinstatement date, exact counts and dates, sample review screenshots and the listing IDs go into a Business Profile support case written so an agent can act on it without asking for more.
Days 2-14: Follow up and escalate. Support cases stall without a nudge. We chase the case, escalate through the Business Profile Help Community when it goes quiet, and report each response to you.
Ongoing: Rebuild what cannot come back. Reviews removed for policy violations will not be restored. For those we set up a compliant, steady review flow and, if rankings are still suppressed, move into post-suspension recovery.
Waiting weeks for a re-sync. Google's guidance is to contact support; nothing opens a case except opening one.
Contacting support with no evidence. Without counts, dates and listing IDs the case closes as "working as intended".
Asking customers to post their reviews again. Duplicate reviews from the same accounts look like manipulation and can trigger the restriction you just escaped.
Creating a fresh profile. A new listing has zero reviews by design and can get both profiles flagged as duplicates.
Hundreds of patient reviews gone the morning the profile returned.
Years of five-star jobs missing right before peak season.
Diners choose by rating; a reinstated profile with three reviews loses the pack.
High-value reviews that cannot be re-solicited under Google policy.
Google says reviews are sometimes removed after a Business Profile is reinstated and advises owners to contact support. In our cases the reviews are usually caught in a re-sync, sitting on a duplicate or merged listing, or were removed during the policy re-check that happens while the profile is under review.
Reviews lost to a sync or merge problem are usually restored once a support case with evidence is worked. Reviews that Google removed for policy violations will not be restored; Google states that plainly. The diagnosis tells you which group you are in before any paid work.
Google says merged-profile reviews can take a few days to display. Support cases vary and often need follow-up; we track most cases across two to four weeks and report every response. Email subject REVIEWS and we confirm the plan the same business day.
We advise against it. Repeat reviews from the same accounts in a short window look like manipulation and can trigger a review restriction on a profile that was just reinstated. Recover the originals first, then rebuild with a compliant, steady request flow.
Often, yes. Duplicates created during a suspension, or a merge Google performed, can hold the reviews under a slightly different name or the old address. We search Maps for every version of the business and include the listing IDs in the support case so the reviews can be reattached.
A partial loss usually means the policy re-check removed specific reviews, or a review restriction is limiting what displays. We separate the two, appeal the restriction where one exists, and are clear about which reviews are gone for good.
