Suspended for a Virtual Office or UPS Store Address? What Google Accepts in 2026
Updated 9 October 2026
Can a Google Business Profile be reinstated after a virtual office suspension?
Only with an address Google accepts. Google’s guidelines say a rented mailing address you do not operate from, a P.O. box or a mailbox store is not eligible, and a coworking office qualifies only if it is signed, staffed by your own people and open to customers during business hours. If you serve customers at their location, the compliant route is to set your real operating address, hide it, define service areas, then appeal with documents in that name and address. Reviews stay on the profile.
Google makes every reinstatement decision. If the only address the business has is a virtual office, the profile may not qualify at all, and we will tell you.
Is a virtual office ever eligible for a Google Business Profile?
No, not as a virtual office. Google’s guidelines for representing your business say that if your business rents a physical mailing address but does not operate out of that location, that address is not eligible.
“Operate out of” means your own staff are there during the hours on the profile and customers can visit. A virtual office where one receptionist answers for dozens of companies does not meet that test, however professional the lobby looks.
Coworking vs virtual office vs P.O. box vs UPS Store: which ones suspend?
| Address type | Eligible? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Virtual office (mail handling, occasional meeting room) | No | A mailing address you do not operate from |
| P.O. box, UPS Store box or other mailbox service | No | Google does not accept P.O. boxes or mailbox services at remote locations |
| Coworking hot desk or flexible membership | No | No signage of your own and no staff of your own there during business hours |
| Coworking private office: signed, staffed by you, customers visit | Yes, with proof | Google allows coworking when the office has clear signage, receives customers and is staffed by your own staff during business hours |
| Executive suite with your own signed office | Yes, with proof | The same test: your signage, your staff, customers received |
| Home address, customers do not visit | Yes, as a service-area business | The address is hidden and service areas are listed |
The hours on the profile must reflect when your staff are actually there, not the building’s round-the-clock access. Several businesses sharing one suite each need distinct signage, phone and registration.
Can you convert to a service-area business and keep reviews?
Yes. It is the same profile, so reviews, photos and history stay. Google requires service-area businesses to hide their address anyway.
- Edit Business location and clear or hide the address.
- Use your real operating address, home or office, as the hidden base. Never a mailbox.
- Add the service areas you actually cover.
- Then file the appeal, and say in the appeal text that you made the change.
Our service-area business setup page covers the fields one by one, and our guide on how service-area businesses rank on Maps explains what changes in visibility.
What address proof does the appeal need?
Documents in the profile’s exact name and the address now on the profile:
- A business license or registration.
- A utility bill or lease.
- A bank statement header.
For a genuine coworking or executive-suite office, add the lease showing a dedicated private office, a photo of the door signage with your business name and photos of your staff working inside.
Google’s evidence form has a 60-minute limit after you file, and you get one appeal for the issue, so stage the files first. Our suspension recovery guide covers the appeals tool; if the appeal was already refused, see the appeal denied fix.
Will moving the address trigger re-verification?
Google says that if you move to a new address after verification, you must verify again. The method offered is often video; our verification help, including video explains what Google asks for.
- A street sign or landmark near the real address.
- Your workspace, tools or vehicle.
- A document with the business name.
If the profile is suspended and unverified at the same time, appeal first, then verify.
What about executive suites with staffed reception?
They are eligible only if the reception is your own, or your own staff sit in a signed office there during the listed hours and customers come in.
A shared receptionist for the building is not staff of your business.
If in doubt, a service-area profile with the address hidden is the safer compliant route. If a service-area profile was itself suspended, see the service-area suspension fix.
How does GMB Experts handle a virtual-office suspension?
- Free diagnosis. We check your address type against Google’s list and decide with you: storefront or service-area.
- Convert the profile. Address hidden or replaced, service areas set, hours corrected.
- Match the documents. License, registration and bills in the same name and address as the profile.
- File once, then verify. One appeal, then preparation for the re-verification video.
- A straight answer. If no one serves customers at or from a real location, the profile may not qualify, and we say so rather than file an appeal that cannot succeed.

Virtual office suspension: common questions
Is a virtual office allowed on Google Business Profile?
No. Google’s guidelines say that if your business rents a physical mailing address but does not operate out of that location, that address is not eligible for a Business Profile. The same applies to P.O. boxes and mailbox stores such as a UPS Store box.
Can I use a coworking space for my Google Business Profile?
Only if the office maintains clear signage, receives customers at the location during business hours, and is staffed during business hours by your own staff. A hot desk or a membership that gives occasional room access does not meet those conditions. If Google asks, be ready with a lease showing your dedicated office and photos of the signage.
Will I lose my reviews if I switch to a service-area business?
No. Converting keeps the same profile; you clear or hide the address and add service areas. Reviews, photos and history stay. Google requires service-area businesses to hide their address anyway.
Do I have to verify again after changing the address?
Google says that if you move to a new address after verification you must verify again, and the method offered is often video. Show the street or neighbourhood near the real address, your workspace or vehicle, and a document with the business name.
Can anyone guarantee reinstatement after a virtual-office suspension?
No. Google makes every reinstatement decision. If the only address the business has is a virtual office and no one serves customers at or from a real location, the profile may not qualify at all; we say so in the free diagnosis rather than file an appeal that cannot succeed.
Updated 9 October 2026. Address eligibility (virtual offices, mailboxes, co-working, service-area businesses) and re-verification after a move are described from Google's business eligibility and ownership guidelines and verification pages as they read in October 2026.
