Google Business Profile Appeal Stuck Under Review? When and How to Escalate
Updated 9 October 2026
What should you do when a Google Business Profile appeal is stuck under review?
Check the status in the appeals tool first. Submitted means Google is still reviewing it. Google says appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days, and that appeals can only be submitted once, so don’t file again or open a new profile. Past that point, contact Business Profile support with the Business Profile ID and the date you filed, and check what evidence actually went in.
Google controls the queue. Nobody outside Google can move an appeal up it, and anyone who claims they can is a red flag.
How long is normal for an appeal to stay under review?
Google says appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days, and that it emails the decision. It publishes no timeline beyond that, and none for additional-review requests.
Owners in Google’s Business Profile Help Community report longer waits. Treat those as individual reports, not a rule, and don’t plan around a date nobody at Google has given you.
What does each status in the appeals tool mean?
Google’s help page on fixing suspended or disabled profiles lists five statuses:
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted | Your appeal is in and under review. | Wait for the email. Do not file again. |
| Approved | Google reversed its decision. | Check the listing on Maps from a signed-out browser. |
| Not approved | The appeal was denied. | See the appeal denied fix; Google may do an additional review with new evidence. |
| Can’t be appealed | The tool will not take an appeal for this decision. | Read the reason shown, then the appeal denied fix. |
| Eligible for appeal | No appeal has been filed for this decision yet. | Fix the cause first, then file one appeal. |
The status only changes for the profile you selected, and Google sends one decision email for that profile.
What does "additional review" mean?
It is not a status. Google says that only if a reinstatement request is denied may it be able to do an additional review, using evidence you did not include the first time.
It goes through a separate Help Center form, not the appeal button. Our appeal denied fix explains that form and what to change before you use it.
Does filing a second appeal hurt?
It does not help. Google’s appeals page says appeals can only be submitted once, and Google asks owners not to submit multiple appeals for the same issue.
- Do not open a new profile. Google asks owners not to create a new Business Profile for the same business while an appeal is under review, and the new one would be a duplicate.
- Do not make unrelated edits. The reviewer should see the profile you appealed.
- Do not pay anyone who promises faster access to Google staff.
How do you escalate through support and the Help Community?
Business Profile support. Google’s help pages link a Contact us option. Give the Business Profile ID, the date you filed, a screenshot of the status and the email confirming the appeal.
The Help Community. Post a short thread in Google’s Business Profile Help Community: your category, city, the notice, what you fixed, when you filed and the current status. Product Experts there are volunteers, not Google employees. They decide nothing, but experienced ones can pass well-documented cases to Google staff.
Never post documents, customer details or your Google password in a public thread.
What evidence can you still add after the 60-minute window?
None to the same appeal. Google says evidence must be submitted within 60 minutes of filing or it won’t be attached.
Use the wait to check what went in. If you missed the window or uploaded documents that don’t match the profile, expect a Not approved decision and prepare the new evidence now: registration, license and a bill in the exact name and address on the profile. Our suspension recovery guide lists the documents Google accepts.
If the whole Google account is restricted, the account appeal comes first; see the account restriction fix.
How does GMB Experts handle a stuck appeal?
- Free diagnosis. We read the status, the notice and what you uploaded.
- Check the evidence. Did it go in within the window, and does it match the profile?
- Escalate properly. A support request and a clear Help Community thread, with the right IDs and dates.
- Prepare the next step. If a denial looks likely, the new evidence for an additional review is ready.
- A straight answer. If the profile cannot qualify, we say so rather than keep a case open.

Appeal stuck under review: common questions
How long does a Google Business Profile appeal take?
Google says appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days, and it emails the decision. It publishes no timeline beyond that, and none for additional-review requests, so nobody can promise a date.
Should I submit another appeal if mine is still under review?
No. Google says appeals can only be submitted once and asks owners not to submit multiple appeals for the same issue. A second filing does not move the first one forward.
Who can I contact about an appeal that is taking too long?
Google Business Profile support, through the Contact us option in Google’s Business Profile Help Center. Give the Business Profile ID, the date you filed and a screenshot of the status. The Business Profile Help Community is a second route; its Product Experts are volunteers, not Google staff.
Can I add more evidence after filing?
Not to the same appeal once the window closes. Google says evidence must be submitted within 60 minutes of filing or it won’t be attached. If the appeal is then denied, Google may do an additional review, which is where new evidence goes.
Should I create a new profile while the appeal is pending?
No. Google asks owners not to create a new Business Profile for the same business while an appeal is under review. The new one is a duplicate, starts with no reviews, and can be suspended itself.
